Bharatpur attractions are a bird sanctuary and the Lohagarh Fort built by Raja Suraj Mal. Attractions in Bharatpur brings in many nature and bird lovers into the city. The bird sanctuary in Bharatpur is known as Keoladeo National Park. This popular tourist site in Rajasthan has also been declared as the World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Rajasthan tourist sites are mostly palaces, forts, temples, havelis that are found in plenty. All the structures are of great importance from the historical point of view. The architecture of the palaces, forts and other structures are an amalgamation of the Mughal, Indian and Persian style. Most of the cities of Rajasthan were at one point of time ruled by various Rajput clans. Bharatpur too was once ruled by Rajput clans.

The Keoladeo National Park or the commonly known as the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is one of the oldest sanctuaries in the country. The site was used by the rulers for hunting purposes. Even the British used to hunt for exotic birds that came and made their nests in the sanctuary. After being declared as a protected site, hunting and capturing of birds have stopped. There are now means to revive and increase the population of the visiting birds. At the Keoladeo National Park, many exotic and rare birds from many corners of the world come during the breeding season. The water bodies and trees attracts the birds. There are some rare species of birds that have made the sanctuary its home permanently.
Among Bharatpur attractions, the Lohagarh Fort was built by the Jat rulers. The fort is well known for its prowess of stopping any kinds of attack by enemies. Many invaders have tried to penetrate the fort but have been unsuccessful. The fort is so called the Iron Fort. Compared to other forts in Rajasthan, the Lohagarh Fort does not have much decorations. But it is one of the most securest forts in Rajasthan. The fort houses many palaces that were inhabited by the rulers and their families. The fort has museums where the articles that belonged to the previous rulers are displayed. The gate of the fort is made of eight metals and is the strongest.
